The Council is dedicated to improving road safety for all road users, and we are committed to introducing 20 mph speed limits and zones in all residential roads across the borough.

There are a variety of measures being proposed on Chingford Mount Road, Chingford Road and Hall Lane to help improve road safety and make it easier and more convenient to walk and cycle.

A description of each of the road safety and speed reduction measures proposed in your area is provided in the document attached below. The proposed location of each of the measures is illustrated on the maps shown in this document.

Controlled Parking zone consultations 2022

The Council is consulting residents and businesses of the Highams Park area on proposals for permit parking.

In February 2020, we asked local people about parking provision and travel behaviour across the Highams Park area. Over 1,000 people responded to the survey to share their experience with car parking, as well as providing ideas about how it could be improved. Some residents stated they had difficulties parking and supported the introduction of restrictions to fix this issue.

Using the survey responses and information on parking occupancy in the area, we have identified streets across the Highams Park area where parking restrictions can help reduce the number of commuters parking in residential roads. We are now proposing to introduce permit parking in these areas to prioritise parking for residents.

The consultation documents linked below show the areas where permit parking is being proposed and include further details on the how to respond. To share your views, please complete the questionnaires enclosed within the consultation document and return it to reach us by Friday 16 December 2022.
