Our Positive Place programme launched in 2020. Since then, it has invested £800,000 in 44 resident-led improvement projects across the borough, enhancing numerous communal spaces and fostering a sense of pride in the community.

The Positive Places programme is now complete, but we are continuing to invest in estate improvements. The remaining programme will now mainly be delivered via the Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy (NCIL) fund.
NCIL funding is where the council collects money from new developments within the borough that can be spent on local infrastructure projects. The funding is distributed to areas where new housing has been built. However, we will continue to seek funding for projects across the borough.
NCIL funding has been granted for ten estate improvement projects. A few examples of the new projects are:
If you would like to see some investment in your area, for example, a new community garden, playground, improved facilities for young people and families - we would like to hear from you!
Please get in touch with your Place Officer by emailing PlaceManagement@walthamforest.gov.uk remember to include your contact details, your estate and suggested idea about a community project.
We will involve and consult residents and councillors on our estate improvements to ensure Waltham Forest residents have a clear voice in making their community more enjoyable and welcoming.
