Our open spaces

Waltham Forest has a wealth of wonderful green spaces. Get the full lowdown with our guide.

Ainslie Wood

This ancient wood is a great place to see bluebells in spring, and is an ideal spot for walking.

Hawskwood Nature Reserve

There's lots to explore at this green oasis, including a nature trail and large pond.

Hollow Ponds

A sliver of Epping Forest with a boating lake and some of the biggest skies in London.

Larks Wood

Once the home of the busiest lido in the country, today Larks Wood is a mature green open space.

Pimp Hall Nature Reserve

This hidden gem boasts a surprising variety of habitats, including meadows, scrub, and a pond.

Walthamstow Marshes

This award-winning site is one of the last examples of London’s once common floodplain grasslands.

Walthamstow Wetlands

Home to a variety of rare birds, bats and amphibians and the biggest site of its type in Europe. Anglers are welcome too.

Other green spaces

From All Saints churchyard to Mallinson Park Woods, discover some of our smaller green spaces.

Allotments

Fruit and veg taste better when you grow your own. Find out how to get an allotment in Waltham Forest.
