Resident-Led Scrutiny

What is the resident scrutiny panel?

Resident-Led Scrutiny

How does it work?

Resident scrutiny reviews are commissioned by the Strategic Tenant And Residents (STAR) panel. Trained residents can participate on a project-by-project basis depending on their interest in a particular area.

The scrutiny team makes formal recommendations which the STAR panel will take to the Housing Management Team. The Housing Management Team will then produce an action plan based on the recommendations and progress is monitored by the STAR panel.

Why get involved in the scrutiny panel?

The benefits of taking part in scrutiny are:

  • You get a real opportunity to influence our services to improve and change your estate and local neighbourhoods
  • You will meet new people and discuss scrutiny projects with the Housing Management Team and how the services can improve these
  • You gain an in-depth insight into our work as a social landlord
  • You will gain new skills and expand your CV through training and development opportunities

We’re looking for new faces to join the Scrutiny Panel

The scrutiny team will shortly begin an in-depth review of our repairs function and make recommendations on how to improve the service. Residents will be provided with appropriate training to equip them with the skills to scrutinise and review.

Keen to get involved?

If you are interested in getting involved in a resident-led scrutiny review, please email the Engagement team on engagement@walthamforest.gov.uk and they will get in touch and inform you of future training sessions.
