Community ward funding 2024
Residents and Community Groups will be able to apply for funding under the theme of Stronger Communities.
Residents and Community Groups will be able to apply for funding under the theme of Stronger Communities.
You can apply for any amount of funding that will have an impact on the local community during this time, however you will only be able to apply for funding in a maximum of two wards per project.
Projects must be used on practical initiatives led by individuals or community groups.
Stronger Communities:
Stronger Communities is central to delivering on our new corporate plan Mission Waltham Forest, which sets out our vision to create a more equal borough by 2030. At a time of complexity and challenges resulting in increasing inequality, pressure on services and budgets, we recognise the need to unlock potential and resilience of residents, communities, and neighbourhoods. We want there to be a network of support within neighbourhoods so that residents are getting the right things, in the right place, at the right time.
Whilst the council has an important role to play in getting this right, we recognise that communities know what is best for their local area and the people who live there and have the ability to connect with a huge range of people. Through CWF we want to support people and community groups to set up initiatives and events that look to strengthen community ties, empower residents and unlock potential within their neighbourhoods.
This could be done in ways that bring people together, offer support to those who need it or be at risk of needing it soon. All applications should have a clear rationale for how they set out to tackle inequalities within their ward.
- Activity groups or workshops
- Baby Banks or youth activities
- Sustainable food growing
- Arts, culture and heritage celebrations
- Strengthening community groups and networks
- Engagement events
- Local welfare schemes or community support
Please note that this funding cannot be used for personal needs, on an individual basis or to pay staffing costs or wages. There are further details of funding available for residents and local businesses below.
Please read the community ward funding guidelines (PDF) before applying.
Applications must be received by 5pm on Friday 14 June 2024.
All applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application within one month.
If successful, you will be asked to formally accept the offer via the grant portal within three weeks of notification.
