Parks and open spaces in Waltham Forest hold a variety of events and activities for local residents. You can also hire our parks to hold your own event.

Activities

Volunteering and training: We offer a variety of volunteering and training opportunities in our parks; get fit, feel part of your community and help improve our parks.

There's often an exciting variety of events happening in parks too!

Hire a park, open space or park building for an event or activity

A number of parks and open spaces within Waltham Forest can be hired by members of the public and outside organisations to hold events and activities. All events or activities, no matter what size, must first be booked through our Greenspace Hire Application processes and can only proceed once written permission has been granted.

How to apply to hire a park or open space (outdoor areas only; not buildings)

  1. Use our Greenspace hire application form (Word file) to apply. This form includes guidance and instructions on applying; plus timelines for applying. It also details the additional Required Documentation we need.
  2. You will also need to read and sign our Event guide and booking conditions (Word file).
  3. Send both documents and your Required Documentation to our green space hire email.
  4. You will be required to pay the following hire fees once your booking is confirmed.
  5. Pay for park hire

How to apply to hire a building in a park

  1. Please email Greenspace.Hire@walthamforest.gov.uk directly to request our application paperwork.
  2. We must have your completed Application paperwork by 8 weeks in advance of your booking, and late Applications are automatically declined.
  3. You will be required to pay the following hire fees once your booking is confirmed.
  4. Pay for park hire.
  5. Buildings for hire via the Greenspace hire application process are:
    1. Community Bowls Pavilion, Lloyd Park (seats 24, includes toilets and kitchen area).
    2. Winns Gallery, in the Aveling Centre, Lloyd Park.
    3. Pavilion, Leyton Jubilee Park (includes toilets and kitchen area).

To hire the Aveling Centre Community Room, Lloyd Park (seats 30; next to play area/toilets/café; extras such as catering/occasion cakes/projector are available), contact ledelicee17@yahoo.co.uk. Great for kids' birthday parties, meetings, or for anyone wanting to run classes, workshops, community or children's activities.

Any Friends Groups wishing to run events/activities in our parks must complete our Friends of Parks activity hire form (Word file) or our Green Space Hire Form (as applicable). Further guidance information is provided on the Form.

Wedding photos

Wedding photos are permitted to be taken free of charge in our parks, however there are certain conditions which must be adhered to.

  • No vehicles are permitted in the park other than in those with a designated parking area
  • no confetti is to be thrown
  • no high heels on the grass, please keep to the paths
  • no litter to be discarded in the park

Please email us at greenspace.hire@walthamforest.gov.uk giving us your name and address, email, contact number, name of the park and the date and time you wish to be there. This is to avoid any clash of events or disruption to maintenance works being carried out in the park.

Join your local Friends of Parks group, to enjoy activities including gardening, nature conservation and community events.

Gardening and nature conservation training
