Which vaccine will I get
There are 2 main types of COVID-19 vaccine given in the UK. You will be given a vaccine made by Pfizer or Moderna.
If you're eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine on the NHS, you'll be offered a vaccine that's appropriate for you. You cannot choose which COVID-19 vaccine you have.
The COVID-19 vaccines used by the NHS do not contain any animal products, including eggs.
Find out more about the COVID-19 vaccines used by the NHS:
- Spikevax (formerly Moderna) COVID-19 vaccine on GOV.UK
- Pfizer/BioNTech (Comirnaty) COVID-19 vaccine on GOV.UK
As we cannot predict which variants of COVID-19 will be circulating this winter, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) have concluded that both of these updated vaccines can be used in adults.
