What is planned

A dedicated musical and cultural venue is set to return to Waltham Forest.

Following extensive public engagement by the developer, Scape, have submitted a planning application  to the Waltham Forest Council. The plans will see a new basement music and cultural venue, including a bar and café, which will hold an audience of up to 500 people, on the old Standard pub site in Blackhorse Lane. The venue will be delivered alongside new homes, cycle parking, public realm improvements, landscaping and amenity space.

The 9 storey building will provide 272 ‘shared living’ rooms. The development will be car free except for the provision of disabled car parking spaces, and cycle parking will be made available.

What happens when

Planning application reference No. 222417 received planning permission in April 2023 subject to section 106 agreement.

  • August/September – completion of site strip and demolition and hoarding to the perimeter installed.
  • Mid-September – installation of piling mat and guide trench.
