Edinburgh Festival Fringe Experience

Two unique opportunities for an all-expenses-paid Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2024 experience are being funded by the Council in partnership with Soho Theatre Walthamstow.

The experience will help develop the creative careers of the two successful applicants. Any Waltham Forest residents aged 18 to 30 with a passion for the performing arts and an ambition to work in the world of live performance are invited to apply.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the world's largest performing arts festival, famous for comedy, theatre, circus, and everything in between. With thousands of shows in a range of venues, from grand stages to intimate basements, the festival promises an unforgettable experience.

The two successful applicants will mingle with industry insiders and talented artists, meet the Soho Theatre team, and gain insight into the behind-the-scenes workings of the festival. It’s an opportunity to witness first-hand what it takes to put on a show at one of the world's most renowned arts festivals.

The applicants will get mentoring, training and support in the lead-up to the event to help them make the most of the opportunity. They will be asked to feed back to Council’s Culture team and the Soho Theatre programming team about their likes and dislikes, which will help shape Soho Theatre Walthamstow and the borough’s wider cultural programme.

What’s included?

  • A four-day (13 to 16 August) all-expenses-paid experience at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, including travel, accommodation, free show tickets and £50 per day for food and drink
  • Free tickets to see comedy and theatre shows in London throughout June/July
  • Free place on Soho Theatre’s eight-week Edinburgh Lab sessions (normally £150)
  • Feedback session to the Council’s Culture team and the Soho Theatre programming team.
