Circus routine

Have you ever wanted a career in the performing arts? Are you wanting to immerse yourself in the exciting atmosphere of live events, but unsure where to begin? 

Revel Puck Circus and Waltham Forest's Future Formed Programme, offers two training courses that will launch you into the world of performing arts. You'll secure a paid work placement to start your career upon completion.

Choose Your Path: Front of House or Event Crew

The Revel Puck Circus returns to Leyton Jubilee Park to present the premiere of chapter two of their hit show The Wing Scuffle Spectacular. You'll step into a vibrant and dynamic environment filled with inspiring performances, stunts, and moments of wonder. You will play a vital role in ensuring that each visitor’s journey is as memorable as the acts they witness.

If the magical realm of the circus has always intrigued you, this opportunity is perfect. The application deadline is Monday 19 June at 5pm. Interviews for available spots will be conducted on Thursday 22 June and Friday 23 June. Remember to specify your chosen opportunity in your application.

Who can apply and what to expect after you complete the course

This opportunity is open to those living, working, or studying in:

  • Waltham Forest
  • Tower Hamlets
  • Haringey
  • Enfield
  • Hackney
  • Havering
  • Redbridge 

You must be aged 18 or over. No previous experience is needed, we are looking for people who are keen to learn.

Training is free and you will receive lunch from onsite catering.

After completing the training, you will go onto a work placement which will be two 4-hour shifts paid at £12 per hour. These shifts will be flexible and based on your availability.

At the end of your placement, the Revel Puck Circus will provide a written reference. A member of the senior management team will be a personal reference on your CV for 18 months after your placement.

You will also receive two free tickets to an opening night performance during July or August, allowing you to witness a circus performance. 

Front of House

This training will include how to deal with an audience, ticketing, and crowd management. You will learn how to support setting up an event, health and safety, venue preparation, and audience seating.

The Front of House training will give you experience of positions in theatres, arts venues, cinemas, and other public facing cultural and hospitality working environments.

When and where will training courses take place

Training takes place from Tuesday 4 July to Saturday 8 July. You must be available to attend everyday.

All training and placements will take place in Leyton Jubilee Park, Waltham Forest.

Event Crew

You will learn vital skills in the events industry, including:

  • The build and strike of an autonomous greenfield event site, assembly
  • Dismantling of temporary structures
  • Installation of site electric
  • Installation of site plumbing
  • Health and safety in live performance settings
  • Waste management

All of this will be provided to you by an experienced Revel Puck production manager.

If your application is successful, you will have an initial online induction before starting your 2 days training. 

The training is free to attend, and you will receive lunch each day.

When and where training will take place

Training takes place from Tuesday 4 July Sunday 9 July. You must be available to attend every day.

All training and placements will take place in Leyton Jubilee Park, Waltham Forest.

Skills Needed

  • Fit and up for physically demanding work
  • Able to communicate effectively and work well in a team
  • Punctual and able to work to deadlines
  • Have a positive attitude and wants to work
