MBS Wellbeing CIC aim is to support residents age forty plus and older people to direct, control and make fundamental changes to their lifestyle, to achieve better outcomes in health, creativity, learning and enjoyment of life. They operate an Event Mobile Service that visits local areas across the borough using community venues that are accessible. They are in the process of gradually reestablishing services and activities, through their four active lifestyle options and community activities these are: 

  1. Friendship and Leisure 

    Relaxation, friendship, conversation, networking 

    Music, DJ, dancing, light refreshments or share a meal, raffle 

    Themed events with guest performers periodically 

  2. Fitness and Health 

    Armchair Exercise – all round body conditioning suitable for older people, wheelchair users or anyone wishing to improve fitness with qualified instructors. 

    Health and Lifestyle – informal sessions for individuals from age forty to find out about risks to health and how to avoid as much as possible the onset of health conditions like diabetes, stroke, dementia, etc. Advice and tips from health professionals. 

    Self care – managing health and living well in later life, advice and information on medication, exercise and diet. Peer support, living alone and coping with stress. 

  3. Creative and Learning 

    Creative Seniors - Older people and others with mixed abilities sampling arts and crafts techniques they can use to start a hobby. Encouraging mental stimulation to keep active and alert, and make friends to alleviate loneliness and social isolation. Volunteers welcomed. 

    Learning Xchange - drop in for a coffee and chat, boost confidence and self-esteem, your skills have value. Individuals looking for work, affected by redundancy, or retired. Explore possibilities, collect training information and more. Training providers are invited periodically. 

    Plus free Support and Information to access service providers and mainstream services. 

  4. Community/Cultural And Project based Activities - When possible 

    Our free community health cultural events offer access to health information such as diabetes, stroke, armchair exercise, and creative arts, which are catalysts to change lifestyle. 

    Promoting the cultures that exist locally and talented artists and performers who use their craft to entertain and inspire an audience. Maintaining heritage for future generations. 

    New Initiative - African & Caribbean Community Health Network (ACCHN) funded by the London Borough of Waltham Forest through the Community Chest Grants Programme. Advocating Equity in Health and access to Mainstream Services for the African, and Caribbean Communities in Waltham Forest. We have developed a series of health and cultural interventions working with collaborative partners to address health inequities and encourage the take of mainstream services to improve living standards. Referral required and eligibility

Free registration is required to use the services and activities of residents forty plus, older people including carers. No referral is necessary. Volunteers are welcome.
