Who we are and what we do
Waltham Forest Music Service provides music opportunities for children and young people throughout Waltham Forest within schools and at our own Music School. Music opportunities include instrumental and singing tuition, music groups and ensembles, workshops and performance opportunities.
Waltham Forest Music Service is part of the East London Music Alliance (ELMA) which is a consortium of seven east London music services and receives funding from Arts Council England.

- Free School Meals, Pupil Premium, Looked After Children, Special Educational Needs, Medical information, social worker details
- Parent/carer name and contact details

The lawful basis for the processing
The lawful basis we use to collect and process the information about you for the purposes set out in this notice will be ‘Consent.’ Where the child is under 13 years of age, the consent must be provided by the child’s parent/guardian.
Who your information will be shared with (if applicable)
We will share your data with organisations that deliver services on behalf of or in partnership with Waltham Forest Music Service and to ensure you are kept safe during the delivery of the music lessons. This may include the following organisations:
- Our local authority
- Examining bodies such as ABRSM
- Arts organisations with whom we deliver a service, for example, Young Sounds UK
- The Revenues and Benefits service to verify eligibility for income/benefit related rates.
Aggregated anonymised statistical data is shared with funders, including Arts Council England.
How long we will keep your information
We keep personal information about students while they are attending our service and until they reach 18. For students that are over 18, we will kept the data for one year after they have left the service. Information is kept for this period so that we can provide a suitable service if students return (students often take a break for a term or a year for example if they have other commitments), and so that we can contact guardians with any follow up information about events or examinations if they have consented to this.
