We are the Street Trading Service for the London Borough of Waltham Forest. in order to provide a market stall and street trading licensing service, it is necessary for us to collect and hold personal information about you.

Information we hold about you
The personal information we collect and hold about you includes:
- Name
- Address
- Date of Birth
- National Insurance number
- Mobile telephone number
- Home telephone number
- Email address
Why we need your information and how we use it
We need the information for the purpose of issuing a trading Licence. The licence is a personal licence and issued to a named individual and therefore the information is required.
The date of birth and national insurance is used to verify the applicant.
The mobile and home number, address and email information are used for administration to communicate with the licence holder.
The lawful basis for the processing
In accordance with the data protection act 2018, we need a "lawful basis" for collecting and using information about you. There are a variety of different lawful bases for processing personal data which are set out in the data protection act.
The lawful basis on which we rely in order to use the information which we collect about you for the purposes set out in this notice will be a public task.
The council has a clear legal basis to perform this task under the following regulations:
London Local Authorities (LLA)Act 1990, for the purpose of issuing a trading licence. Under the LLA Act 1990 Section 25 2 (a) it specifies that the applicant must provide their name, address and DOB as part of the application.

- Environmental Health
- Licencing
- Neighbourhood Team
- Business Support
- Anti Fraud Service
How long we will keep your information
We will keep your personal information for the minimum period necessary. The information outlined in this Privacy Notice will be kept for seven years from the date of the file closure unless exceptional circumstances require longer retention e.g. a pending court case. All information will be held securely and disposed of confidentially.
