Waltham Forest Council has launched ‘Summer Starts Here’ – a free programme of events taking place across the borough this summer.

There will be a range of events throughout the summer, making sure you can have fun with family and friends in your local area.

The programme events kick-starts over the Jubilee weekend, beginning with our Platinum Jubilee opening event and beacon lighting at Fellowship Square on Thursday 2 June. Join us from 5pm to 10pm for an evening of free entertainment before the lighting of the beacon, part of a national moment to mark the Queen’s seventy years on the throne.

Over the weekend, we’ll also be holding a Platinum Jubilee event in Ridgeway Park, Chingford on Friday 3 June, and an event at St John’s Churchyard, Leytonstone on Saturday 4 June. Both events are free to residents and will take place from 1pm to 5pm.

On Sunday 5 June, we invite residents to join our ‘Mile Long’ street party along Walthamstow High Street from 1pm to 7pm for an afternoon of free fun.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing more plans around these events and how you can get involved.
