What's coming up in 2023?

This year, we're building on our work to create a brighter future for Waltham Forest. We want to make sure that every resident has the chance to fulfil their full potential, building strong neighbourhoods where everyone can thrive. 

Here are some of the work, programmes and developments that are coming up in 2023: 

• More work to make our communities safer through Safe Streets programme 
• Creating a new lido 
• Regeneration of the Avenue Road Estate 
• Family Hubs programme to offer connection and support 
• Launch of University of Portsmouth London Campus, boosting local economy 
• £31m levelling-up funding to improve Leyton Station and Walthamstow town centre
• Opening Soho Theatre Walthamstow, creating an anticipated 222 long-term jobs 
• £4.1 million to improve street lighting and cleaning, and tackle potholes 
• £66.2m of grant funding secured to deliver 866 new affordable homes
