Waltham Forest Healthy Child Programme: New provider, same excellent service

From Thursday 1 July 2022 the Waltham Forest Healthy Child Programme will be delivered by the Tower Hamlets GP Care Group (Care Group) following a recommissioning process of the borough’s 0 to 19 children services.

The Care Group will begin providing the borough’s Healthy Child Programme, taking over from North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT). Both organisations are working very closely together to maintain the health and welfare of children and families that use the service. Please be assured that there will be no service changes within the Healthy Child Programme, which cover the Family Nurse Partnership (FNP), Health Visiting and School Nursing services.

Tower Hamlets GP Care Group is a community interest company made up of 33 general practices that work as a community organisation to deliver healthcare services to local residents. The Care Group already successfully deliver the same programme in Tower Hamlets and are confident about delivering the same high-quality service for Waltham Forest children and families.

We are working together to ensure that the seamless transfer of your personal information (including health information) is managed under strict GDPR guidelines. Personal information currently held by NELFT will be moved to the Care Group via a secure data transfer system as part of the continuation of care.

Both organisations are also working with the local authority to maintain continuity of service provision, albeit provided by the Care Group.

The Care Group now provides the borough’s Healthy Child Programme. The recommissioning process confirmed that the provider of Children Family Centres (CFCs) will continue to be Lloyds Park Children’s Charity. The provider of the Best Start Service will also continue to be the national charity, HENRY.

The Care Group is pleased to be a part of this integrated approach. It is designed to deliver family-orientated, joint services within 15-minute neighbourhoods. With single points of access and a focus on addressing inequalities, it will ensure that Waltham Forest’s children have the best start in life.

If you have any queries in regard to this transfer, please contact Waltham Forest 0 to 19 services on the Single Point of Access number (SPA):
Tel: 0300 033 6200 or email thgpcg.wf0-19SPA1@nhs.net.

If you need to get in touch with NELFT, please contact 0300 300 1970 or universalspawf@nelft.nhs.uk.

In due course further information will be available via the relevant websites for the Care Group, London Borough of Waltham Forest and NELFT.
