LSM Clinic (previously Leyton Sports Massage) has been helping the people of Waltham Forest (and beyond!) for over a decade. For the last five years they have worked from CRATE St James Street.
The clinic provides specialist sports and remedial massage therapy to relieve pain and tension or manage day to day life. Their goal is to help anyone who walks through the doors live pain-free, or as close to it as possible.
The clinic first started in 2010, in Leyton Fitness First, and moved their second location to CRATE when it opened in 2019.
Founder Katherine says, “I was really keen when I first heard about Crate – I was previously renting a room for a couple of days a week near Hoe Street. I was excited to have our own space and I liked the ethos of Crate. We’ve been here ever since, with an additional space in the co-working space on Ruckholt Road in Leyton.
The idea people have of massage therapy is that it’s passive, that they’re lying down the whole time, and the therapist does a general muscle massage. At LSM, we work very specifically, with regular assessment, to identify underlying causes and be as effective as we can, as quickly as we can. We find this approach, coupled with client education around simple self-care practices, helps clients have lasting improvements.
Our massage isn’t just for sports people either. We see loads of desk workers with neck, shoulder and back pain, as well as new parents, tradespeople, footballers, golfers, and even circus performers and opera singers. We're here for anyone with muscle-related aches and pains to help them understand and feel more connected to their body.”
You can book in for an assessment with one of the four therapists who work from CRATE St James Street on the LSM website. At a typical appointment, a therapist will assess your condition and your range of movement, before targeting specific muscle groups to address the problem. They will then re-test to see if improvements have been made, while explaining what they’re doing and why so you have a better understanding of and connection to your body.
LSM also offer a number of free resources via their YouTube channel and website, including free desk posture and foam rolling workshops. To get more information, sign up for their free self-care emails, or book a session, visit the LSM website.
