Telecare alarm issue
Update: the Telecare community alarms are now working. We’ll continue to monitor the situation closely.
On Friday 15 August we were made aware of a fault with Telecare services (community alarms) which means some alarms are not currently connecting to emergency contacts. We are working to fix this issue urgently and will keep this webpage updated with new information.
If you need emergency assistance via your alarm, please contact your normal responder by telephone. This may be your family member, carer, or Newham Network on 0300 003 1303. It is essential you keep your mobile phone or cordless landline fully charged and carry it with you at all times.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 999.
To make yourself as safe as possible during this time:
- Carry a fully charged mobile phone or cordless landline with you at all times
- Programme essential numbers into your mobile phone or cordless landline, or write them on a piece of paper which you keep on your person
- Arrange regular contact with a family, member, neighbour or carer to let them know you're OK
- In the hot weather, make sure you drink more water than normal to stay hydrated
For family members / carers
If you're a family member, carer, or neighbour of a Telecare alarm user, please ensure you keep in regular contact with the alarm user until this issue is resolved. If you know the alarm user will not be able to access this webpage for updates, please make sure you check it regularly yourself, and read out our guidance to the alarm user.
If you are unable to contact your alarm user, please contact Newham Network for support on 0300 003 1303.
