Our neighbourhoods: Meet Khadidja

We spoke to local residents to find out why they love their local neighbourhood, what makes them proud to live here and what they’d like to be improved.

Khadidja moved to Upper Leytonstone from France with her husband 8 years ago.

Helping each other to solve these problems

“When my kids were younger, we used to go to the children and family centres. It was nice to go and chat with other parents and get some advice from professionals as well. It kept us busy and each day had a different programme of activities – it was really good. We should have more events like this where we can chat with our neighbours and share our feelings and worries.

In my neighbourhood we’ve had issues with anti-social behaviour and selling drugs and I think we didn’t have enough support, so we need to have the spirit of neighbourhood, family, helping each other to solve these problems. We just need a little push to meet each other and chat, so we can remove those barriers.”
