New Roles at Waltham Forest Family Hubs

Published: 20 February 2023
Filed under: Families, young people and children

We want all families in Waltham Forest to have access to the services and the support they need; as well as fun and educational activities within easy reach of their homes. We’re making sure our families are at the heart of everything we do.

Our new Family Hubs will be based in neighbourhoods offering families health and housing services, employment support, creative play and parenting programmes. We know that families need support and activities no matter the age of their children and our new hubs will offer relevant support for different stages of family life

The Family Hubs will be a one stop shop to access the support families need and will be available outside of the regular 9 to 5 hours. Family Hubs will continue the important work currently taking place at Children and Family Centres through our Best Start in Life offer. We will enhance and expand our existing provision to provide families with the necessary support and guidance required to ensure children get the best start in life and throughout every stage of family life. This will include the provision of housing services to support families at risk of homelessness.

If you are passionate about supporting families and reaching out services to those in our community who have been previously underserved and want to be part of a brilliant Family Hubs team that will deliver this exciting provision for families, then check out our jobs today. We have a variety of Health, Council and voluntary sector roles and apprenticeship opportunities on offer.

Family Hubs are partially funded by the Government as part of their vision to provide every family with timely support and the information they need to care for and interact positively with their babies and children. This will bring together services for families with children of all ages from pregnancy, through the child’s early years and later childhood, and into early adulthood, until they reach the age of 19 (or up to 25 for young people with special educational needs and disabilities).

Lead member for Children and Young People, Cllr Alistair Strathern shared: "This is a fantastic opportunity for passionate people to join our ambitious family hubs programme. If you want to make a positive change directly to our families, then do check out the roles and apply if you can. If you are passionate about supporting families and providing support to those in our community who have been previously underserved and want to be part of a brilliant Family Hubs team that will deliver this exciting provision, then join us.
