Council Tax - are you eligible for a £150 rebate?

UPDATE: Applications for the Council Tax rebate have now closed

The Government has announced that most households in Bands A – D are eligible for a £150 rebate on their Council Tax.

If you are eligible for a rebate and you currently pay your Council Tax by Direct Debit, the payment will be made automatically to your bank account. You do not have to do anything.

We have sent text messages to households that do not currently have a Direct Debit in place to inform residents about the rebate and to advise them that the first payments will be made to Direct Debit payers as we hold their bank details. The text messages will contain the final three digits of your Council Tax account number, so you can be confident the message is verified, and do not include any links to click

We encourage residents to sign up for Direct Debit to pay their Council Tax with a minimum of hassle. Please be assured that if you do not pay by Direct Debit but you are eligible for a rebate, you will still receive it. You will be required to complete a form with your banking details for us to make the payment or you can choose to have the money credited to your Council Tax account. Information on how to apply for the rebate will be published on the council website by the end of March.

Signing up for a Direct Debit is quick and easy and can be done online.
