Funds and grants

You can apply for support from a grant making trust, provided you meet certain criteria. Your local library should have more information.

The following organisations provide financial support to help disabled and ill children:

  • Turn2us helps those in difficulty access benefits, charitable grants, and support.
  • my AFK provides specialist mobility equipment for young people up to the age of 25.
  • Boparan Charitable Trust helps disadvantaged children and young people up to the age of 18. This includes grants towards mobility equipment, sensory toys, holidays etc.
  • Caudwell Children charity aims to improve the lives of disabled children
  • Disability Grants funding towards the costs of disability equipment, holidays, housing, days out and outside the normal costs of everyday living.
  • Family Fund grants for low-income families with disabled or seriously ill children.
  • The Patrick Trust Muscular Dystrophy UK welfare fund offers grants towards specialist equipment like powered wheelchairs, adapted computers and electric beds.
  • Whizz Kidz provides mobility equipment to give kids the chance to be independent.
  • Lifeline 4 Kids – this charity provides essential equipment to improve the quality of life for children with disabilities and special needs
  • Margaret's Fund - help with assistance such as disability grants, funding for electric mobility, for finance for medical equipment
  • Muscular Dystrophy UK – has information on grants and financial assistance you can get to help pay towards the costs of adaptations and equipment.
  • newlife - provides support to disabled children and their families and carers. This includes funding for essential equipment like beds, buggies and wheelchairs etc.
  • REACT - helps low income families who care for a child with a life-shortening illness. Grants are provided for equipment, communication aids, end of life support and more.
  • WellChild - work to ensure the best possible care and support for children with long-term or complex health conditions and their families.
