Waltham Forest Council is committed to supporting young people to take part in education, employment and training (EET). To ensure young people and families receive the right support at the right time, this work is delivered through three specialist services, each with clear statutory responsibilities.
16 to 17 Participation Team
The 16 to 17 Participation Team is responsible for tracking and supporting young people aged 16 and 17 who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).
Parents and carers across England can register their young person as NEET from 1 September each year. This enables the local authority to provide appropriate information, advice and support.
Opening times
SEND Service
The SEND Service supports young people aged 16 to 25 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
The service ensures compliance with SEND legislation and works closely with young people, families and partner agencies to deliver personalised transition planning into adulthood, education, employment or training.
Virtual School
The Virtual School acts as the corporate parent for Children Looked After (CLA) and provides additional support to Children in Need (CIN) and care leavers, promoting positive education, employment and training outcomes.
