Background

Central Parade is a Grade II listed building located on Hoe Street, Walthamstow. The clock tower at Central Parade is one of the main features of the building.

The ceramic tiles, many of which show heraldic shields that have strong links with the borough, are a key reason why the building has a Grade II Listing.

In May 2020, the Council granted planning permission for the garages behind Central Parade to be demolished to make way for 19 new flats and a commercial space on the ground floor. This new building has been named Eastfield House.

About the proposals

The planning approval is for:

  • Demolition of existing garages to the rear of Grade II listed Central Parade redevelopment to provide a mixed-use building up to five storeys comprising 167 sqm flexible commercial unit at ground level
  • 19 flats, of which 50 per cent will be affordable
  • Associated bicycle parking, plant and refuse storage
  • Public realm improvements
  • Relocation of electrical sub-station.
  • Conversion of part of south western corner of Central Parade to provide two flats.
  • Works to ground floor services and elevations of Central Parade.
