Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) Consultation 2023

Waltham Forest Council is consulting on a suite of Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) to support the emerging Local Plan. The six SPDs that the Council is consulting on are being prepared:

Exemplar Design SPD

How to create high-quality, well designed buildings, spaces, and places 

Green and Blue Spaces SPD

How to protect and enhance existing parks, rivers, trees, and biodiversity across the Borough create new open spaces to serve our local communities. 

Residential Extensions & Retrofit SPD

How to extend your home and upgrade it to address the climate emergency and save money on your bills

Industrial Intensification SPD

How to protect and support our industrial estates and deliver the new high-quality employment floorspace that the borough needs

Developer Contributions SPD

How we negotiate the investment that developers are expected to make in places and local communities to deliver the infrastructure that the borough needs

Leyton Mills SPD

How to coordinate development in the area around Leyton Mills over the next 15 years to create a new sustainable, safe, and healthy 15-minute neighbourhood

Existing SPDs 

The Borough already has 9 SPDs. These will remain material considerations when making planning decisions until the new Local Plan is adopted.

Waltham Forest Existing SPDs
