As a reminder, Government guidelines state that the only large gathering permitted at the Cemetery is for Funerals only, with a maximum of 30 socially distancing mourners. Otherwise the maximum number of attendees to visit a grave is 6 people.

To respect the needs of others, visitors are asked not to wilfully create any disturbance in the Cemetery or behave in a way that may be a nuisance to others. In particular, the playing of games and sports is not permitted. The Cemetery is also controlled by a Public Spaces Protection Order. This prohibits amongst other things, the use of alcohol, behaving in a manner which is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress, and littering within the Cemetery.

Funerals

Chingford Mount Cemetery is still operational for funerals.

We are limiting the number of mourners at any funeral gathering within both of our cemeteries, to close family members only, provided that they are out of any isolation period.

If you are attending a funeral, please arrive no more than 10 minutes prior to the booked service time and phone us when you are at the Main Gate so we can allow you in.

In order to protect staff and the public and to ensure we can continue to provide this critical services, our employees will be keeping a safe distance from funeral gatherings during services.

All handling of the deceased including lowering and removal of putlogs will be carried out by the Funeral Directors.

Our primary focus during the current situation is to continue providing burials. We have therefore ceased provision of grave selection, families backfilling graves and all witnessed ashes burials. If required, we may email a photograph of the grave area and cemetery plan for upcoming burials
We apologise any inconvenience or upset this may cause. We are constantly reviewing the situation and if needed will make further changes to these restrictions.

The Office reception is closed to face to face visitors.
