Alert

Waltham Forest Town Hall

Waltham Forest Council is committed to supporting residents and businesses as we transition into new arrangements after Brexit.

We are working hard to ensure that the council services our residents and businesses rely on are prepared for the changes that Brexit will bring, including updating our business continuity plans to test them against the different scenarios that may occur. Waltham Forest has a long and proud history of welcoming people from all over the world and EU citizens will continue to be welcome and valued.

Waltham Forest Council is keen to ensure that residents and businesses have the information that will help them through the transition period, and to aid this we will continue to update this page as information becomes available.

Central Government and The Greater London Authority (GLA) regularly update their Brexit advice and resources on their websites. In particular, the GLA’s EU Londoners Hub provides comprehensive advice and guidance on the support available as an EU citizen in London.

All EU, EEA and Swiss nationals and their family members in the UK are being encouraged by the Home Office to register for the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS).

The scheme protects you and your family’s right to continue to live, work and study in the UK after the Brexit Transition Period. It secures your rights to:

  • work in the UK
  • use the NHS for free as you do now
  • enrol in education or continue studying
  • access public funds such as benefits and pensions, if you’re eligible for them

You can get more information from the UK Government here.

    Who Can Apply

Whether you need to apply depends on your individual circumstances. Information on who should apply, and the eligibility criteria, can be found on the UK Government website here. So far, library colleagues have assisted over 1,500 service users to complete Settled Status applications.
