The electoral and open registers

There are two registers – the electoral register and the open register (also called the 'edited register').

The electoral (full) register

This lists the names and addresses of everyone who is registered to vote in public elections. We have a legal duty to supply copies of the full electoral register to credit reference agencies.

The open (edited) register

This is an extract of the electoral register but is not used for elections. It can be bought by any person, company or organisation. For example, businesses and charities use it to confirm name and address details. It includes all names and addresses – unless a person has chosen to opt out. Opting out does not affect the right to vote.

You can find out more about both registers on GOV.UK.

If you want to buy a copy of the open register, email: electoral.services@walthamforest.gov.uk. The cost will depend what you are looking for.
