Who we are and what we do?

This notice relates to data collected under the Household Support Fund operated by the Council and its delivery partner Citizens Advice Waltham Forest. The central government announced support through the Household Support Fund (HSF) to provide support to vulnerable households most in need.

The Council has partnered with Citizens Advice Waltham Forest (CAWF) to deliver part of the Household Support Fund.

If you are a Waltham Forest resident and having trouble with paying for essentials such as food costs and energy bills, you can apply for support to cover these costs by calling Citizens Advice Waltham Forest's adviceline on 0808 2787 838 (freephone Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm).

Information we hold about you

The following will be collected by CAWF and shared with the Council as necessary:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Ethnicity
  • Employment status
  • Health condition/disability
  • Financial assessment
  • Grant award and reason

Purpose of processing personal data and how we use it

The information collected and processed by CAWF is for the purpose of assessing the needs and eligibility of individuals and distributing the grants:

  • To identify the resident supported
  • To monitor demographics of residents supported by the fund/improve services
  • To identify the support required by the resident
  • To understand the reasons why support is required in the borough and improve services

Your data may also be used for reporting and fraud prevention purposes.

The Lawful basis for the processing

CAWF will only ask for personal information that is appropriate and proportionate to enable them to deliver their services effectively.  The lawful basis for this process is your consent to do so.

Who your information will be shared with

Your personally identifiable data will only be shared between the CAWF and the Council for the purposes of administering the Housing Support Fund.

We will share anonymous aggregated data with the funder, the Department for Work and Pensions, for reporting purposes.

We may share your data if we are required to do so by law, for example by court order or to prevent fraud or other crime.

How long we will keep your information

Your personal data will be stored securely by the Council for 1 year.

Your personal data will be stored securely by CAWF for 6 years.

Information obtained from another source

Where relevant, CAWF may obtain information about you from local Voluntary Community Sector (VCS) organisations. CAWF will always ensure that the VCS has your consent to share the data prior to sharing it with CAWF.
