Who we are and what we do

The Council hosted an information event for Ukrainian residents on 6 April 2022, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, at Fellowship Square. The event was organised in partnership with the Work Rights Centre, RAMFEL, British Red Cross, The Lloyd Park Children’s Charity and Waltham Forest GP FedNet Federation.

The event gave people the opportunity to meet with key council services and external partners to receive resettlement support and information about immigration, school admissions, housing, hosting, refugee advice, employment, access to healthcare.

Information we hold about you

The event was open to any resident to attend and it was not mandatory to book a space at the event.

Ukrainian residents are welcomed to the event regardless of immigration status and don't have to provide personal info unless they wish to.

The Eventbrite page was used for the purposes of promoting the event.

An Eventbrite event page was created to promote the event. You could either sign up for the event using Eventbrite or attend without registering. If you registered using Eventbrite, the Council will not hold or share the information beyond planning for the event.

If during the Ukraine Event you registered your details and wished to be contacted with additional service information from the council by completing the online form you will be contacted accordingly.

The information collected on the form is name, email address, mobile number (optional) and ward of residency (optional). The form will be kept open after the event for anyone who was unable to attend on the day, or wishes  to sign up to receive information from the Council.  You are able to withdraw your consent at any stage by emailing ukraine@walthamforest.gov.uk.

Purpose of processing personal data and how we use it

The data is collected and processed to allow the council to provide information about support available for Ukrainian residents.

The lawful purpose for data collection and use is consent.

Who your information will be shared with (if applicable)

The data will only be used by the Ukraine Single Point Of Contact (SPOC) team where you have requested to be provided with information on some or all of the following options:

  • Immigration advice
  • Employment rights and employability advice (Ukrainian speaking advisor will be present).
  • Accessing GPs and wider healthcare support.
  • Public Health.
  • Early Help Resettlement advice and support, including information on Homes for Ukraine Scheme.
  • Early Help Adult Health and Wellbeing Link Workers Service, supporting adults experiencing adversity and barriers to health and wellbeing.
  • English Language (ESOL), training and skills, social integration, information and support with ESOL, social integration and adult learning.
  • Employment and Steps Into Work information and support with steps into work.
  • Early Help family support, including information on schools and nurseries.
  • Education - information relating to school places.
  • Rough Sleepers - raise awareness around rough sleeping and signposting people should they find themselves in that unfortunate position.
  • Violence Against Women and Girls - Come and talk to our Specialist Team who work to end Male Violence against Women and Girls.
  • Food banks – information provided about how to access food banks.

How long we will keep your information

The information is only retained for the period that the Ukraine SPOC is active and while the council is providing targeted information and support in response to the crisis in Ukraine. The data will be immediately removed after that period.
