The process

Applicants should email: SNN@walthamforest.gov.uk

This email must include the site location, site layout and internal plan (floor plan(s) and designated plot numbers on each floor), along with a clear indication of the main external entrances to each property. Lastly, we will need the planning application number. The total size of attachments must not exceed 10MB.

You should also include a suitable daytime contact telephone number, contact address and email address

Once your initial application is received the council will then advise you of your SNN reference number and provide you with payment instructions.

To make a payment please visit our payment website

Alternatively, please contact us to make a BACS payment or request an invoice.

Do not make a payment until you receive your SNN reference number.

How long does the service take?

We aim to process individual applications within 10 working days and larger applications within 15 working days of receipt of payment.

Once approved, the new address will be officially allocated. Addresses are allocated on a monthly basis.

It is essential that you apply as soon as possible as utility companies will not provide service to properties that are not officially named with a postcode.
