The best new buildings, landscape and refurbishment projects in Waltham Forest have been recognised at the Waltham Forest Design Awards.
This year’s ceremony was held on Wednesday 26 June 2024 at the William Morris Gallery to announce the winners from 11 shortlisted entries, ranging from public realm projects and landscape-led design to tall buildings, home extensions and community spaces.

The winners are:
Councillor Ahsan Khan, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing and Regeneration, said: “Congratulations to all the winners and shortlisted entries. Entries this year have been outstanding and show the exceptional high-quality design Waltham Forest has to offer to residents. This is great moment for design in Waltham Forest following the launch of our new Design Review Panel to help steer our ambitious plans to create 27,000 new homes and vital infrastructure that Waltham Forest needs following the adoption of the Local Plan earlier this year.”
ROAR Architects win an award for their work on Tennyson Road
Last December, Waltham Forest Council opened nominations for projects developed between 2021 and 2023. After receiving lots of entries, the expert awards judging panel comprising of Alex Ely, Lara Kinneir, Nisha Kurian, and Tori Allison-Powell shortlisted 11 projects. View the full shortlist.
From March to May 2024, the people of Waltham Forest could choose their favourite to win the People’s Choice Award. Over 500 online votes were received with the award going to Tennyson Road by ROAR Architects, which dramatically overhauled a family home in Walthamstow using new technologies and innovative design methods to create a bright and spacious extension.
The Waltham Forest Design Awards has been running since 1990, celebrating the best of design in the borough, showing the power and value of design for residents and communities that truly transform how people use spaces and buildings for the better.
