We are celebrating Love Parks Week (Monday 27 to Friday 31 July) in Waltham Forest with exciting activities and conservation volunteering opportunities in some of our most beautiful green spaces – and everyone is invited!

Local charity, The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) will be running a series of family-friendly events packed with everything from arts and crafts and mini bug hotel building, to nature-themed scavenger hunts for younger participants.

During Love Parks Week, these family-friendly sessions are running at the following locations:

  • Monday 27 July: Henry Reynolds Gardens (2:30pm to 4:30pm)
  • Tuesday 28 July: Memorial Park (10:30am to 12:30pm)
  • Tuesday 28 July: Ridgeway Park (2:30pm to 4:30pm)
  • Wednesday 29 July: Abott’s Park (10:30am to 12:30pm)
  • Wednesday 29 July: Stoneydown Park (2:30pm to 4:30pm)
  • Thursday 30 July: Jubilee Park (2:30pm to 4:30pm)
  • Friday 31 July: Lloyd Park: (2:30pm to 4:30pm)

You can also celebrate Love Parks Weeks by joining one of our fun, free outdoor conservation volunteering and gardening sessions, run by TCV and Groundwork London. Check the dates and locations below:

  • Volunteering with the biodiversity action team, Tuesday 28 to Thursday 30 July  (9am to 5pm) at various locations. Visit the TCV website for full details
  • Thursday 30 July: nature conservation volunteering in Leyton Jubilee Park (10:45am to 2pm)
  • Thursday 30 July: Volunteer Gardening in Lloyd Park, E17 (10am to 1pm)
  • Friday 31 July: Nature Conservation Volunteering in Lloyd Park, E17 (10.45am to 2pm).

Abi Townsend, operations leader of TCV is welcoming local people of all ages who want to enjoy their local green space during Love Parks Week.

Abi says: “Love Parks Week is a fantastic opportunity for residents to get outside and explore all that the parks in the borough have to offer. At TCV, we work with local people to take part everything from wildlife surveys, nature conservation volunteering, to wildlife themed arts and crafts for younger participants.

“We also provide guidance on supporting wildlife in the borough and volunteering as a way of improving health and wellbeing.

“There’s something for everyone in Waltham Forest in Love Parks Week so make sure you get involved, enjoy your local green space and support the borough’s wildlife.”

Love Parks Week is all about making the most of your green spaces, so why not check out the newly refurbished tennis courts at Memorial Park, Chingford? The courts are now open to the public as part of a wider programme of improvements, including new play facilities, table tennis and games tables, and a brand-new Multi-Use Games Area.

Over the summer, the tennis courts can be used free of charge on a first come, first served basis, with no booking required. Please be considerate of other users and avoid occupying the courts for extended periods when others are waiting to play.

From September, a new booking system will be introduced where residents can sign up for membership and book court time.

Find out more about Love Parks Week on the Keep Britain Tidy website. You can also get information about your local park on our parks and open spaces page.
