South Chingford Community Library is run by volunteers for the local community.

SCCL first opened its doors to the public in April 2012, after the South Chingford Branch library closed in December 2011.

As an independent community library, SCCL is self funded, relying on donations, and grant funding. For this reason, members pay a nominal fee to use the library's services. Revenue is also generated from the sale of books considered unsuitable for placing on the shelves.

The library achieved charitable status in September 2013.
