What’s the job like?

  • Construction Labourers are responsible for a range of manual activities to guarantee that projects are completed on time and on budget.
  • Construction Labourers also help to transport, load and unload machinery and building materials and assist with the operation of construction equipment.

What does the ideal candidate look like?

Key skills include:

  • Knowledge of building and construction
  • To be thorough and pay attention to detail
  • The ability to use, repair and maintain machines and tools
  • The ability to work well with your hands
  • The ability to work well with others
  • Physical skills like lifting, bending and carrying
  • The ability to accept criticism and work well under pressure
  • Physical fitness and endurance
  • To be able to carry out basic tasks on a computer or hand-held device
  • Some jobs involve using plant machinery, like excavators or dumper trucks. To do this, you'll need to be 18 or over and have a driving licence
