Help and support to avoid homelessness

Help and advice for if you are at risk of being made homeless.


Leaving accommodation provided by family or friends


If you are currently living with family or friends and have been asked to leave, mediation could help you stay at that home, at least until you find a different home.

If your private rented sector tenancy is ending


If you are currently living in rented accommodation and have been asked to leave, there are several ways we can help you to try to prevent you from becoming homeless.

Experiencing domestic abuse


If you are suffering from domestic violence in your home we can help you to avoid homelessness.

If your tied accommodation is ending


Guidance on if you are currently living in accommodation provided by your employer (known as tied accommodation) and have been asked to leave or your job is ending.

Experiencing violence and harassment


If you are suffering from violence or harassment, we can help you to avoid homelessness.

Experiencing a relationship breakdown


If someone leaves your household, you may find that you can no longer afford to live there. We may be able to help you stay in your current home or find a new one.

Leaving hospital


If you will become homeless on leaving hospital, you have the right to apply to us for help.

Mental illness or impairment


Know your rights, what help is available and how can we help you to find a new home.

Leaving the Armed Forces


If you think you may become homeless when leaving the Armed Forces you have the right to apply to us for help.

Leaving care


If you are leaving care, we can provide extra support and advice to help you avoid becoming homeless.

Leaving prison or youth detention


If you are leaving prison or youth detention accommodation, you may be more at risk of becoming homeless so below is advice specifically for your situation.
