How to manage your rent

Use this guide to check your rent account, make payments, and get help if you’re struggling to pay.

1. Sign in to your rent account

You can check your: 

  • rent balance
  • recent payments
  • rent statement

You’ll need a Resident Portal account and your rent account number. Learn how to create an account in the Resident Portal.

2. Choose how you want to pay

Get help to pay your rent

If you’re worried about falling behind or already in arrears, speak to the rent team. 

We may be able to: 

  • help you set up a payment plan
  • check if you’re entitled to financial support
  • refer you to debt advice or benefit services 

You can also look at other support options if you're behind on rent.

If you get Universal Credit

If your rent is covered by Universal Credit, the housing cost is paid to you - not to the council.  

You must: 

  • arrange your own rent payments
  • pay on time to avoid arrears
  • contact us if you’re having problems
