Future Waltham Forest

Our communities are healthier and happier when we all work together.​ We want a new kind of council working with residents to shape our future together for the long term.

Future Waltham Forest is our borough-wide conversation with residents, communities and partners to help shape the future of Waltham Forest. This will help us identify the priorities and big decisions we need to make about the future, and will inform the new Borough Plan for the next four years.

We want to hear from you: what you love about living in Waltham Forest, what we could improve to make this a brilliant place for all​, and what your hopes are for the future. 

There are lots of ways to take part, from Neighbourhood Assemblies to community and youth groups and chatting to your local ward councillor. So get involved! 

Neighbourhood Assemblies

We are hosting community assemblies near you. This is your chance to share your ideas for the future of Waltham Forest and hear more from your neighbours.

  • Tuesday, 15 September, 7pm to 9pm (arrive by 6pm)
• Leyton: The Great Hall, 1A Adelaide Road, E10 5NN
  • Tuesday, 22 September, 7pm to 9pm (arrive by 6pm)
• Walthamstow: Walthamstow Library, High Street, E17 7JN
  • Thursday, 24 September, 7pm to 9pm (arrive by 6pm) 
• Chingford: Ryan Hall St Edmund's Church, Larkswood Road, E4 9DS
  • Wednesday, 30 September, 7pm to 9pm (arrive by 6pm) 

There are a limited number of spaces available and so we will confirm your place with more details about the assembly nearer the event. 

If you are chosen to take part, you will receive £30 as an incentive after attending the Neighbourhood Assembly.

Connect with your local ward councillor 

Your local councillors will be holding engagement sessions in their wards through August, September and the beginning of October.

Host a conversation in your community 

The most important conversations in Waltham Forest happen in our communities. We know community groups play a vital role in bringing people together and making sure local voices are heard. 

Small grants of £200 to £500 are available for formal and informal community groups to host local conversations and share feedback from the residents they know best. 

Funding applications will be accepted until 6 September.  

Roundtable Discussions 

We are also holding roundtable discussions focused on specific issues. These discussions will be hosted by leading councillors and will bring together a small group of local residents with deep experience in the area, experts and local community groups. The events are invite only and will run during October and we will share the highlights of the discussions with residents. 

Engaging with young people 

We also have a whole range of ways for young people to share their hopes for the future. Young people will be empowered to lead conversations with their peers in ways and places that work from them, from pop up events to on-street conversations. Watch this space, we’ll share more detail on how you can get involved soon.
