Information and support for Ukrainian residents event

If you have been affected by the crisis in Ukraine, Waltham Forest Council would like to invite you to an information event on Thursday 26 May 5pm-7pm, at Waltham Forest Town Hall. During the event, you can get resettlement support and information from council services and our external partners. You’ll be able to access 1:1 support about immigration, school admissions, housing, hosting, refugee advice, English language, employment, access to healthcare.

Translators and refreshments will be available at the event.
Please note that it is not mandatory to book a space at the event and walk ins will be accepted.  

Ukrainian residents are welcome to the event regardless of immigration status and don't have to provide personal info unless they wish to.

Під час заходу ви можете отримати підтримку з переселення та інформацію від служб ради та наших зовнішніх партнерів. Ви матимете доступ до підтримки у форматі 1:1 щодо імміграції, вступу до школи, житла, розміщення, консультування біженців, англійської мови, працевлаштування, доступу до медичної допомоги.

На заході будуть доступні перекладачі та напої.

Будь ласка, зверніть увагу, що бронювання місць на заході не є обов’язковим, і ті, хто прийде без попереднього запису, теж будуть прийняті. 

Жителі України запрошуються на захід незалежно від імміграційного статусу і їм не потрібно надавати особисту інформацію, якщо вони цього не бажають.

The following services will be present: 

  • Waltham Forest Migrant Action – Immigration advice including benefits, welfare, housing, foodbank referrals and signposting to relevant services or immigration casework.
  • Work Rights Centre – Employment rights and employability advice (Ukrainian speaking advisor will be present). 
  • British Red Cross - providing emotional and practical support to people going through crisis, including cash and voucher assistance, physical items, signpost people to partner organisations, internal services and give advice on the asylum/refugee system. 
  • Citizens Advice – advice on accessing benefits like universal credit
  • Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain - information on Ukrainian organisations and the community and social support available.
  • Waltham Forest GP FedNet Federation & NHS North East London CCG - information regarding accessing GPs and wider healthcare support.
  • MTC Learning – community centre providing social and community integration activities and mental Health support for diverse communities 
  • Mind – online workshops for people and families hosting Ukrainian residents affected by the crisis in Ukraine. This includes Psychological First Aid, Trauma awareness, PTSD awareness, how to support someone’s wellbeing.
  • Early Help resettlement advice and support, including information on Homes for Ukraine Scheme.
  • Early Help Adult Health & Wellbeing Link Workers Service -  Supporting adults experiencing adversity and barriers to health and wellbeing
  • Private Sector Housing & Licensing Team - inspecting the properties of those willing to host people from Ukraine. Advise on housing disrepair for private rented properties and property licensing.
  • Adult Learning & ESOL Advice Service - Information and support with ESOL, social integration and adult learning
  • Employment & Steps Into Work - Information and support with steps into work.
  • Early Help family support, including information on schools and nurseries. 
  • The Lloyds Park Children’s Charity - information on the Children and Family Centre offer for pre-school-age children.
  • Education - information relating to school places.
  • Rough Sleepers - raise awareness around rough sleeping and signposting people should they find themselves in that unfortunate position. 
  • Violence Against Women and Girls - Come and talk to our Specialist Team who work to end Male Violence against women and Girls. 
  • Food banks – information provided about how to access food banks. 
  • Public Health – information on sexual health, substance misuse, and recommendations around covid-19 and vaccination.

The event is being organised in partnership with Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain, British Red Cross, Citizens Advice, Mind, MTC Learning, NHS North East London CCG, The Lloyds Park Children’s Charity, Waltham Forest GP FedNet Federation, Waltham Forest Migrant Action, Work Rights Centre, and London Borough of Waltham Forest.
