Digital Leap is a free, week-long workshop in Leytonstone for 12 to 14 year-old, female-identifying students from Waltham Forest.
It brings dance and computing together to create an interactive digital dance performance. Led by pioneering dance company Pell Ensemble, Digital Leap aims to inspire participants to take the jump into a creative, digital world.
Participants will work together to build an interactive digital dance performance based on the theme 'Future Worlds'. This will be inspired by the United Nations Global Goals for 2030 and the performance will be shared with friends and family at the end of the week.
This programme will generate excitement, build confidence and introduce skills, encouraging students to move forwards with a career in computing and/or the creative digital industries.
Each day includes at least 60 minutes each of dance, computing and design. Alongside this, female identifying speakers with careers in creative technologies will speak about their experiences.
Lunch will be provided each day and travel expenses for students will be paid. No previous dance or computing experience is needed but welcomed.
If you are interested in taking part please email Emma.McGovern@walthamforest.gov.uk with the name of the young person, their age and postcode. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
The delivery of Digital Leap is co-commissioned by Waltham Forest Council and East Bank. Supported by Foundation for Future London’s Foundations Programme, co-funded by City of London.
