Covid-19 update

The latest Government advice and precautionary measures to protect against Covid-19 and help stop the spread of the virus.

Covid-19 update: 20 January 2022

Plan B restrictions to be lifted by 27 January 2022

The government has announced that Plan B restrictions introduced to fight the Omicron variant will all come to an end next week. The change is due to Covid-19 cases falling and the success of boosters.

This means:

  • From 19 January: no need to work from home
  • From 20 January: masks not needed in classrooms
  • From 27 January: masks not mandatory on public transport and indoor spaces
  • From 27 January: Covid passes not required at large events

It is still a legal requirement to self-isolate if you test positive for Covid-19. The use of face coverings in crowded areas is also still encouraged.

To help keep the rates of infection low, please do your part and take up your first, second and booster vaccine if you’re eligible.

Keep protecting yourself and others:

  • Continue to use face coverings in crowded areas and let fresh air in whenever possible
  • Get vaccinated and get your booster at our walk-in vaccine clinics
  • Test regularly and stay home if you feel unwell.  For more information on testing, visit our Covid-19 testing webpage
