Set up a Direct Debit
You can pay your bill automatically each month with a Direct Debit.
Paying by Direct Debit means you:
- have a choice of payment dates
- are protected by the Direct Debit guarantee
- can cancel anytime
How to set up your Direct Debit:
- Log in to your Council Tax account
- Select 'Show details' then 'Direct Debit'
- Follow the steps.

Pay online
You can make a one-time payment of any amount. The payment will be applied to your account the next working day.
You’ll need your card details and Council Tax account reference number ready.

Use our 24/7 automated phone system to pay by debit or credit card.

Pay at a Paypoint
You can pay your Council Tax at any PayPoint. You can find these at most Post Offices. You’ll need to take your Council Tax bill so the barcode can be scanned.
Payments must be made at least 7 days before the due date to make sure they reach our account on time.

Council Tax due dates
Payments are due on the first of each month.
You can choose to make your payments:
- in 10 or 12 monthly instalments
- every two weeks
You must make sure you make your payments by the agreed date.
Changing your payment date
You can switch to the 9th or the 25th of the month.
To change your payment date, contact us with your Council Tax reference number.
Our promise to you
We promise that:
- we will provide a full schedule of your instalments at least 10 days before your first payment
- If any changes are made to your payments, we will notify you at least 10 days in advance
