Ask us to limit how we use your data

You can use a Subject Processing Restriction Request (SPRR) to ask us to limit how we use your data. When processing is restricted, we are still allowed to store the personal data, but not use it.

This is not an absolute right and only applies if:

  • you’ve told us the data is inaccurate and we’re checking this
  • the data’s been unlawfully processed, but you don’t want us to erase it
  • we don’t require the data anymore, but you need us to keep it for a legal reason
  • you’ve asked us not to process your data, but we’re considering using ‘legitimate grounds’ to override this

We may continue to use your data if we ask you and you consent. There are several reasons that we may also continue to use your data without your consent. For example, we need do so for a legal claim, to protect someone else’s rights or because it’s in the public interest.

See the right to restrict processing page on the ICO website to find out more.
