Who we are and what we do
The data being collected is for the project “Wildways Along the Ching”, which will make improvements to green spaces in the area and provide events and workshops for residents to attend. The information is being collected and retained for the purpose of:
- informing residents who agree to sign up to updates, about activities that are part of Wildways Along the Ching.
- reporting engagement and demographic data to the project funder, the Mayor of London

Information we hold about you
The information being collected for signing up to updates is:
- email address,
- first half of postcode.
This is the minimum amount of data required for contacting people with relevant local information.
The information being collected about people who participate in activities is whether an individual is from one or more of these under-represented groups, which are defined by the GLA as:
- People from minority ethnic groups
- Deaf and disabled people
- People from lower socio-economic
- Backgrounds
- Women and girls
- Older people
- Younger people
People will complete a simple survey to self-identify and share information on a voluntary basis.
Based on Green Roots Monitoring Guidance, it is downloadable on the London.gov.uk website.
Why we need your information and how we use it
The information is being collected and retained for the purpose of:
- informing residents, who agree to sign up to updates, about activities that are part of Wildways Along the Ching

Lawful basis for processing personal data
Consent: the individual has given clear consent to process their personal data for a specific purpose.
Explicit consent will be given at the point of data collection.

Data will be shared with:
- Internal council departments (Climate and Housing)
- GLA (grant funder)
- Project partners, if explicitly stated: Artillery CIC, East London Waterworks Park, Organic Lea, The Conservation Volunteers
How long we keep your information
Data retention is 2 years from the end of the project, which is July 2027.
This allows a reasonable time for the same interested parties to be contacted if continuation funding is awarded for Wildways along the Ching.
