Who we are and what we do?

We are the resettlement team within the Stronger Communities Directorate.

Waltham Forest Council provides support to individuals who seek resettlement in our Local Authority under the various resettlement schemes.  We support refugees who have been provided with sanctuary under:

  • UK Resettlement Scheme - Those individuals assessed by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as vulnerable and requiring resettlement. Individuals may remain on the scheme for up to 5 years from the date of arrival in the UK. Support may continue after that date if necessary.
  • The Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme (ACRS), the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP), the Afghan Resettlement Programme (ARP) -we provide support up to 3 years

We offer resettled families a comprehensive package of orientation and integration support services, which are tailored to their individual needs.  The resettlement Service collects data to ensure that all processes are completed, and services delivered, so we can provide support and assistance to people who are resettled in our Local Authority.
