Who we are and what we do
London Borough of Waltham Forest is working with a provider called HEET to support households struggling to keep their homes warm in Waltham Forest.
HEET (Home Energy Efficiency Training Ltd) provides a free energy advice and support service to help people keep warm and reduce their energy bills.

Face-to-face meetings are by appointment only and can be arranged with the service.
Information we hold about you
Where relevant to do so and appropriate we may ask you for the following information in order to process your request:
- name
- home address
- telephone number
- eligibility data, including proof of income or receipt of benefits, including Universal Credit, and proof of age or long-term health condition
- property type and tenure type
- age range
- ethnicity
- information about the physical or mental health of you or your family
- number of adults in the home
- number of under-18s in the home
Why we need your information and how we use it
As well as collecting your information to provide a free energy advice and support service, the provider will also use your information to demonstrate fulfilment of contract requirements outlined in the provider’s contract with the council.
Your data may be used to make a referral for extra support, subject to consent given by you.
The Lawful basis for the processing
The processing of your data is based on your consent. You will be asked by our contractor HEET to sign a data protection and consent form, where you consent to the sharing of your data with us.

Who your information will be shared with (if applicable)
Your information will be shared between the contractor, HEET, and the Council.
Anonymised data will be shared with the Council on a quarterly basis for contract performance monitoring.
Your personal data may be shared with specific council officers or teams if you require extra support. In this case, before HEET share your data, your consent will be obtained first.
Should you wish to withdraw your request for extra support you can contact info@theheetproject.org.uk or the relevant council team or officer if known.
How long we will keep your information
The Council will retain the contract data for 7 years.
