Who we are and what we do

The Stronger Communities Directorate collects information to ensure that the Council is able to provide support to individual Eligible Persons (EPs) from Afghanistan to settle in our Local Authority under the resettlement schemes. If you have any questions, you can contact the Council’s Resettlement Manager.

Information we hold about you

The data will be held in the Resettlement. Personal information that will be held is:

  • ARAP number
  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Sex
  • Contact email
  • Contact mobile
  • Mobility, access requirements
  • SEND requirements
  • Physical and Mental health
  • and special needs information

Why we need your information and how we use it

The purpose of collecting and processing the information is to provide Council services during the transition period before the individuals are resettled in the Local Authority. This is the minimum amount of data that is needed to proceed with the support plans.

The Lawful basis for the processing

The lawful basis of the information we collect and process about you is Public Task. This means that the processing of your information is necessary for us to perform tasks set out in law.

The legal basis for data processing under the public task criterion is grounded in Article 6(1)(e) of the General Data protection Regulation (GDPR), which allows processing necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest. This is supported by statutory duties established under national legislation Housing Act 1985 where duties for local authorities to address housing needs, particularly for those in priority need or facing homelessness.

Who your information will be shared with (if applicable)

It may be necessary to sometimes share information with other Council services to safeguard adults and children.

How long we will keep your information

The Council will only retain the data for as long as necessary in line with the Council's retention policy under the Afghan schemes for 3 years.
