Joining and using the library

You can now book a room at Walthamstow Library Plus for your event. See below for details.

Walthamstow Library Plus offers the following free services and facilities for members:

  • books: print titles, eBooks and eAudiobooks available for loan or download
  • newspapers and magazines: latest editions available to read in the library
  • computers: PCs with Microsoft Office software and internet access
  • Wi-Fi internet access available throughout the building
  • online courses: access a range of free learning material, including language lessons, driving theory test preparation, and computing skills lessons
  • public toilet (wheelchair accessible) and baby change facility

Library members can also access the following 'paid for' services with their library card:

  • printing and photocopying
  • room hire

From Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm, staff are available to help you complete the following tasks, along with many others, at one of our self-service PCs at the library.

You can also report a change in circumstances that affects any of the permits or benefits, or drop off and scan evidence to support an existing application.

Please note: all of the above tasks can be completed via this website using our library PCs outside of staffed hours or your own PC, laptop or mobile device.

The service is available every Thursday, 10am to 5pm.

An advisor will be on hand with advice, guidance and practical paths to training designed to:

  • enhance your employability skills
  • help you work towards your employment, volunteering, work trial or further education goals
  • help you to open a Lifelong Learning account, and access workshops in CV techniques, application forms, interview techniques, covering letters, motivational skills, customer care and self-employment


  • Baby Bounce and Rhyme (term time only), 11am to 11.30am


  • Once upon a Storytime (term time only), 11am to 11.30am
  • Walthamstow Reading Group (last Tuesday of the month), 6pm to 7pm


  • Baby Bounce and Rhyme (all year, including holidays), 11am to 11.30am


  • National Careers Service drop-in, 10am to 5pm 
  • Once upon a Storytime (all year, including holidays), 11am to 11.30am


  • Once upon a Storytime (term time only), 11am to 11.30am
