The Council has decided to update its Housing Allocations Scheme, which sets out how we allocate social rented housing (Council and housing association homes).
We last reviewed the scheme in 2012-13 in response to the Localism Act, which gave local authorities more freedom to set their own policies about who should qualify to go on the waiting list for social housing in their area (we call this list the Housing Register).
As pressures on housing are greater than ever, we now want to look at the scheme again to ensure that it meets the needs of residents, focusing on:
- Who is eligible to be on the Housing Register
- Who gets priority for housing on the Housing Register
- Making the system simpler to understand
We would like to hear your views about the possible options for the revised Allocations Scheme. To take part in this consultation, please go to our survey
The survey will close at midnight on 19 December 2019.
