Citizenship ceremony Click to get info

If your application for British Citizenship is successful the Home Office will send you an invitation letter to arrange your group Citizenship Ceremony.

Their letter will have explained that in order to complete the process of becoming a British citizen, you will need attend a citizenship ceremony to receive your Certificate of Naturalisation. Please read through the guidance notes on the back of the letter before arranging your ceremony

The ceremony will include taking an oath (or affirmation) of allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and a pledge of loyalty to the United Kingdom.

You must attend a ceremony within 3 months of receiving the Home Office Invitation letter confirming that you have been granted British Citizenship.

The London Borough of Waltham Forest is the local authority responsible for making the arrangements for you to attend a citizenship ceremony.

A private citizenship ceremony costs £100 per person. A Saturday private citizenship ceremony costs £150 per person. There is no charge for children under 18 years of age.

If you live in a different borough, you can have your ceremony in Waltham Forest, with approval from the Home Office.

A naturalisation certificate proves you’re a British citizen with the right to have a British passport and vote. You will be presented with your certificate at the citizenship ceremony.​

If you don't have access to a pc, why not visit a Library Plus branch where you can use a self-service pc to log your request/report. Staff are available to support you if you need it.
